And all of them together!

We had fun and they got so much candy! I have already gone through it all and designated some for each girl, some for dad, and some for me. I also have a huge bag to take to school tomarrow to try and get rid of it all.

Anyway Happy Halloween and good Night!

Good news for me

I have probably mentioned that I am going to school. Well last Friday, the 20th, I had my interview to be accepted into my program. I had to be accepted before I took the rest of my classes, since I basically only have the education classes left. So it had been about a week and I hadn't heard anything. I am supposed to register for classes on Monday morning.

Can you guess where this is going? Major stress on my part. I needed to register for classes, but couldn't until I knew if I was in the program officially or not. The waiting was killing me!

So I did what any sensible person would do. I called and threatened the dean of education...Ok so not really. What I did was stop by the education office and see what they knew there. They weren't much help. I was just told that the result letters had been sent out a day or so ago. Great More stress. Now I knew the answer was on it's way. But I still had to wait for it.

You know, I think that knowing the letter was on it's way and still having to wait for it was worse than not knowing the letters were on their way. I mean when I didn't know when the letters were coming I could at least tell myself that no news was good news. BUT once I knew the acceptance letters had been mailed and I didn't hear anything I began to really worry if I had been accepted. I mean some places do that. If you don't hear back from them, then you didn't get - whatever you were trying to get.

So as you can guess I have been a frantic mail watcher for the past few days. I mean I must have walked out to my mailbox at least 7 times a day, just to see if the mail had come. Um I will even admit to walking out to the box once more after I got the mail to see if I had missed the letter. OK so I did that a few times, really. I promise I am not crazy, just a bit obsessive.

So Thursday, I am outside when the mail guy comes. Was this luck you ask (or maybe by now you know the answer)? Actually it was. I had just walked outside to let my dog do his thing, looked and there he was. But, no letter for me.

Friday: I didn't actually see the mail guy at my box, but I knew he had been there (don't ask how). This time, I didn't run to the box. Oh no, I was scared the letter might be there, but that it would be a rejection letter. So I wait until after I pick up my kids. No letter.

Saturday: I had a crazy busy day. Kids had a church thing at 9:00am (way too early for me on the one day I get to sleep in). They get done at 10:30 and I have an eye appointment at 11:00am. I don't get home until 5:30pm. Once home I get the mail and take it inside. I look through and throw away the junk mail, in fact I am so busy throwing things away that when I get to the letter, I almost throw it away before I gasp and put everything else down and open it. I read: Dear (my name here), I am pleased ... At which point I begin screaming and jumping up and down and forget to read the rest of the letter. LOL

But yes I did get in. And the rest of that letter says: I am pleased to inform you that the Admissions Committee has approved you for admission to the Secondary Education program.

Now all I have to do is pay $69 for my background check, get fingerprinted, get my picture taken, fill out more paperwork and it will be official.

So good news for me. And you know what? I counted, and I will graduate in 16 months!!! After that I am going to have a big party and sleep for a week. Wow in 16 months I will be a real live grown up. LOL.

as promised...

I handed in the crazy midterm today (who on earth calls a 25pg paper a midterm?!!! so what if it's technically 5 different papers) so here are some pictures of our trip to Moab!

These are some views from our camp site. We were right next to the Colorado River, but you couldn't see it from our campsite (make sense. lol) you had to walk to get there, but you could hear it. It was so pretty! And the stars! WOW talk about brihgt! I didn't try taking a picture of them. Maybe another time...

This is Moab, Taken from up on a cliff that we hiked up to see some rock art, as well as some pictures of the rock art.

Canyonlands:

Ok now I have to explain these pictures. We totally thought we wasted out time here because it was raining and we were high enough that we were in the clouds. So I had to get a few pictures as the clouds were lifting. I think they look pretty cool, but again, cold and rainy. And this was the only day it rained the whole 5 days we were there. lol

So busy!! Yes I am giving in to a whiney vent....

But it's my blog so there. LOL

Sorry for the two week (almost) delay in updating. Life happened. A short list:
  • I have 5, yes 5, papers due on tues the 24th for one class.
  • Last weekend was my fall break, so we went camping. I did homework, but didn't start my papers, although I did write a paper for another class. (this was good. I am not complaining about camping at all! I want to go back!!)
  • We came home on Sunday, and needed clothes so I started laundry.
  • Mon. Went to school, and came home sick, but wrote 2 of the 5 papers
  • Tues: sick, as in I-thought-I-was-going-to-die
  • Wed: sick, same as tues
  • Thurs: sick, on the mend, but still couldn't move
  • Fri: Still not feeling so hot, but I had an interview to matriculate into the Education program. I couldn't miss it.
  • Today, yeah, still not feeling my best, but I have been sick all week. So today I get to: do the two sinks and one big counter full of dishes, laundry for 5 people since I am apparently the only person who knows how to operate the dishwasher and washing machine. I also get clean the rest of the house and find my floor and bathroom for the same reason. Oh and yes I still have three papers to write, proofread, and perfect before Tuesday morning. Oh and my wonderful hubby is at work, and he can't even do anything there because they had a fire, but his boss won't let him leave.

Anyone want to trade me places? Because I really just want to go hide in my room and cry today!

Ok whiney rant over. I'll post a few pictures of camping and tell you all about that trip tomorrow when I am tired of writing my papers and need a break. Enjoy your Saturday.

rain, rain, go away!!

OK so maybe it's not raining today, in fact it's beautiful outside! But Thursday and friday this is what happened at my house:

Explanation: There is a big trench in front of my house. You can't see it here, because it is full of water. You also can't see the last 5 ft of my driveway because it was flooded.

The pink bag is someone's halloween dacoration, one of those bags you fill with leaves and it has a jack-o-lantern face on it. It floated down from I don't know where, but at least two blocks away.

This isn't a good picture. I mean you get a sense of the water, but in fact this whole area was under water about two minutes after I took this picture. This is my neighbor's (to the west, downhill) yard. I took this from my yard.

THis is the other side of my yard. You can't see it too well, but our yard was flooded with water and sand and gravel. It washed down out rock wall and onto our lawn. I'm not complaining though. THis is better than it used to be. So much gravel would be washed onto our lawn, we used to have to go out and shovel it off. But the city regraded and it sort of helped. still we have a mess to clean up.

So it rained really hard, really fast for two days. Then it rained some more on Sat. I'm not complaining at all! The rain is great, I love the rain! I just wish we didn't get flooded out every time it rained here. lol.
