I have probably mentioned that I am going to school. Well last Friday, the 20th, I had my interview to be accepted into my program. I had to be accepted before I took the rest of my classes, since I basically only have the education classes left. So it had been about a week and I hadn't heard anything. I am supposed to register for classes on Monday morning.
Can you guess where this is going? Major stress on my part. I needed to register for classes, but couldn't until I knew if I was in the program officially or not. The waiting was killing me!
So I did what any sensible person would do. I called and threatened the dean of education...Ok so not really. What I did was stop by the education office and see what they knew there. They weren't much help. I was just told that the result letters had been sent out a day or so ago. Great More stress. Now I knew the answer was on it's way. But I still had to wait for it.
You know, I think that knowing the letter was on it's way and still having to wait for it was worse than not knowing the letters were on their way. I mean when I didn't know when the letters were coming I could at least tell myself that no news was good news. BUT once I knew the acceptance letters had been mailed and I didn't hear anything I began to really worry if I had been accepted. I mean some places do that. If you don't hear back from them, then you didn't get - whatever you were trying to get.
So as you can guess I have been a frantic mail watcher for the past few days. I mean I must have walked out to my mailbox at least 7 times a day, just to see if the mail had come. Um I will even admit to walking out to the box once more after I got the mail to see if I had missed the letter. OK so I did that a few times, really. I promise I am not crazy, just a bit obsessive.
So Thursday, I am outside when the mail guy comes. Was this luck you ask (or maybe by now you know the answer)? Actually it was. I had just walked outside to let my dog do his thing, looked and there he was. But, no letter for me.
Friday: I didn't actually see the mail guy at my box, but I knew he had been there (don't ask how). This time, I didn't run to the box. Oh no, I was scared the letter might be there, but that it would be a rejection letter. So I wait until after I pick up my kids. No letter.
Saturday: I had a crazy busy day. Kids had a church thing at 9:00am (way too early for me on the one day I get to sleep in). They get done at 10:30 and I have an eye appointment at 11:00am. I don't get home until 5:30pm. Once home I get the mail and take it inside. I look through and throw away the junk mail, in fact I am so busy throwing things away that when I get to the letter, I almost throw it away before I gasp and put everything else down and open it. I read: Dear (my name here), I am pleased ... At which point I begin screaming and jumping up and down and forget to read the rest of the letter. LOL
But yes I did get in. And the rest of that letter says: I am pleased to inform you that the Admissions Committee has approved you for admission to the Secondary Education program.
Now all I have to do is pay $69 for my background check, get fingerprinted, get my picture taken, fill out more paperwork and it will be official.
So good news for me. And you know what? I counted, and I will graduate in 16 months!!! After that I am going to have a big party and sleep for a week. Wow in 16 months I will be a real live grown up. LOL.
